Abstract

In this study, the inhibition effect of nicotinamide compound has been investigated on the corrosion of brass in 0.2 M NaCl solution. The effect of inhibitor concentration and holding time were examined. Cyclic Voltammetry Technique is used to determine the electrochemical behavior of brass in this environment. Tafel Polarization method, which is an electrochemical method, is used to determine the corrosion rate. As a result of the studies, it has been understood that nicotinamide compound is a good corrosion inhibitor for brass in chlorinated environments and shows behavior as an anodic inhibitor. It is determined that the best inhibition activity was achieved with a concentration of 500 ppm with 120-minute holding time.
