Abstract

In this article; The importance of platelet-rich fibrin in wound healing has been emphasized. The wound healing process is tightly regulated by various cytokines and growth factors secreted into the wound site. Platelets are cells that play a central role in wound healing and are the main source of the growth factor complex that plays a major role in wound healing. They reach the wound site very quickly and initiate clotting. When platelets are activated, they secrete growth factors, cytokines and chemokines. The interaction of these factors leads to angiogenesis and tissue regeneration and promotes wound healing. As platelet-rich fibrin began to be used in wound healing, gel forms (platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) or leukocyte and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF), advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF), platelet-rich fibrin obtained by horizontal centrifugation (H-PRF) and platelet-rich fibrin prepared with titanium T-PRF) and   liquid form (Injectable platelet-rich fibrin (I-PRF) were used in the process to get better results. The anatomical situation of the area to be applied has caused the diversity of these application forms. Therefore, which platelet-rich fibrin forms will be used should be decided by taking into account the area of the wound and the characteristics of the wound. It is thought that the use of platelet-rich fibrin, which is easy to obtain, in wound healing will become widespread day by day.
