Abstract

In today's working world, there are many dangers that put people's working lives, safety and health at risk. Construction workers working at height are at risk of falling, mining workers' respiratory tract is affected by dust, workers working with chemicals are at risk of explosion, and kitchen workers and cooks are in danger of cutting their limbs with knives or other cutting tools. In all sectors, there is a risk specific to the business situation [1]. In addition, work accidents cause undesirable consequences not only for the employee but also for his family. Material and moral losses may occur. Occupational health and safety awareness is having the knowledge and awareness of what needs to be done to protect against situations that may be harmful to health for different reasons while working in the workplace. Labor law, Law No. 6331 and other occupational health and safety legislation should be addressed more in occupational health and safety training and other vocational courses given to students [2]. Students' educational processes should be supported by theoretical and practical first aid courses. Basic occupational health and safety training should be repeated at every grade level. The aim of this study is to measure the occupational health and safety awareness levels of students in different faculties and colleges of Hitit University in 2018. In the continuation of the study, it is planned to observe the change in occupational health and safety awareness in the intervening 6 years by creating 2024 data. A survey was used as the study method. In the study, the survey was administered face to face to 623 students. The results were analyzed using the Microsoft Excel program. In the survey, awareness in the society was tried to be measured by reaching students who were not students of the occupational health and safety program and who had not yet taken this course.
