Abstract

Vitamin D levels vary according to the duration of skin contact with the sun and the amount of vitamin D in the foods consumed or oral supplementation for supplementary purposes. Vitamin D levels show regional differences Due to the latitude of the residential areas and the climate that varies according to the sea level, Object; With the literature data of the last 10 years in children, it was aimed to review the status of vitamin D in our country regionally by examining the vitamin D levels according to years and regional differences. Method; Comprehensive studies reported from the provinces were conducted using scientific research as a scientific resource between 01.11.2019-29.02.2020. Results: In studies conducted in Turkey's western regions and provinces in the eastern region; In the Aegean Region, Doğan et al. from İzmir reported an mean vitamin D level of 28.00±15.55 ng/mL and Kocaman et al reported an mean vitamin D level of 30.3±16.2 ng/ml in Denizli. In a study by fettah et al from Erzurum where is in the Eastern Anatolia Region reported reported mean vitamin D level of 17.1 ng/ml, while Topal et al. 21.3 ng/ml in girls and 22.5 ng/ml in boys. When the data are evaluated, the data stand out; The values reported from the Aegean region are higher than those in the Eastern Anatolia region. In the studies reported from the north and in the southern provinces of Turkey; mean vitamin D levels in the Black Sea region, Güven et al. from Zonguldak, 23.3 ± 8.88 ng / ml and 27.9±8.27 ng/ml in winter and autumn, and 34.3±18.3 nmol/L from Trabzon. they reported. From the provinces in the southern region; Bucak et al. from Adıyaman reported mean vitamin D levels of 32.9±13.9 ng/mL in girls and 34.4±14.6 ng/mL in boys, Matyar et al from Adana reported mean vitamin D levels of 48.42±0.54 nmol/L in girls, 52.95±0.92 nmol/L in boys, Savas et al. from Isparta reported mean vitamin D levels of 16.1±13.24 ng/ml. In the regional evaluation of notifications from different provinces, vitamin D levels were higher in the southern provinces than in the north. Conclusıon; Besides the latitude and climatic conditions of the regions, many reasons such as lifestyle, height above sea level affect the time of exposure to sunlight and leads regional differences. In case the vitamin D levels of individuals are known due to regional differences, it should be ensured that the person is in contact with the sunlight in sufficient time according to the regions and seasons, if it is not possible, the adverse conditions that may develop due to vitamin D deficiency can be prevented by taking the daily vitamin D requirement.
