Abstract

Regenerative veterinary medicine has become a popular field with a continuous transformation following human medicine. In veterinary medicine, the ever-increasing integration of domestic animals with social life, longer life expectancy, and the similarity between human medicine and veterinary medicine in this regard increase the popularity of regenerative veterinary medicine. Recently, platelet-rich products (such as platelet-rich fibrin [PRF]) used in regenerative medicine have also attracted attention in veterinary medicine. The reason why these platelet-derived products attract attention is that they contain a high concentration of bioactive molecules such as cytokines and growth factors that significantly affect tissue healing and regeneration. Platelet-rich fibrin belongs to the second generation of platelet concentrates intended for simplified preparation without biochemical blood processing.  It is seen that platelet-rich fibrin, which can be used in the field of veterinary regenerative medicine, is a regenerative treatment option that can be easily used in both soft tissue injuries and hard tissue injuries. It should be known that platelet-rich fibrin is a very good treatment option in veterinary medicine due to its easy and fast preparation, tissue compatibility, no contamination risk, low cost, non-infectious, controlling inflammation, non-allergic, haemostasis effect, reproducibility, accelerating vascularisation and most importantly accelerating tissue healing.
