Abstract

GC and GC-MS were used to analyse the chemical composition and essential oil ratios of essential oils obtained from flowers of Salvia virgata Jacq grown in different regions. Twenty components were identified for S. virgata including β-Caryophyllene (48.12%), Caryophyllene oxide (13.25%), Germacrene-D (9.79%), and γ-Muurolene (3.83%) for Balıkesir. In Çanakkale, eleven components including β-Caryophyllene (29.46%), Caryophylleneoxide (26.9%), Germacrene-D (9.95%), and ẟ-Cadinene (5.17%) were identified. Kütahya; Nineteen components including β-Caryophyllene (39.48%), Germacrene-D (14.48%), β-Thujone (7.87%), Caryophylleneoxide (6.94%) were identified. Essential oil ratios (%) varied between 0.03% and 0.05% for all locations.
