Abstract

In order to increase the competition in today's job market, It is needed the employees who can adapt to changing circumstances and conditions, understand and use technological changes, are productive, have effective communication skills, team spirit. In map sector like every sector, there are different levels of programs that provide the map and cadastral training to meet this need. One of the most important stages of vocational education is technician training. The technicians who are the need of the job site are trained as qualified intermediate staff by vocational high schools that provide education and training at the associate level of the university. Increasing the competitiveness in international markets for the booming economy of Turkey will be only possible by qualified intermediate staff trained in advanced vocational high schools and in these schools. The training of map and cadastral technicians working as a technical intermediate staff has great importance in terms of the implementation of the projects needed by the map sector. The aim of this study is to determine the opinions and expectations of the people with the title of map technician in the private sector and public institutions about their levels of professional qualification. For this, a survey has been carried out with geomatic engineers in the private sector and public institutions of Turkey. Percentage, mean, standard deviation and independent-sample t-test have been applied for the aim of the study. Statistical analysis in this research has been made with SPSS statistics package program. 254 geomatic engineers have participated in the survey. Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient used in reliability analysis has been found as 0.809 in order to determine the consistency of the answers given in this survey. The overall average regarding the views and expectations of the geomatic engineers about the graduates from vocational high school has been found as X = 3.18. This average shows that the opinions and expectations of the respondents about the graduates are at a medium level. Based on the findings, the results have also been discussed and suggestions have been offered.
