This study was conducted to determine the effect of education on self-care and healthy lifestyle behaviors given to patients with bipolar disorder. The study is an intervention study conducted in a quasi-experimental, single-group, pretest-posttest design with 17 patients diagnosed with Bipolar disorder in the psychiatry outpatient clinic of a university hospital. Training sessions on healthy lifestyle behaviors were given to patients. The post-test was administered three weeks later to patients who participated in all of the training program. "Personal Information Form", "Self-Care Power Scale" and "Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II" were used to obtain the data. Paired samples test was used to evaluate the data. It was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the self-care power scale before and after the training. (p<0.001). After the training, the average self-care ability scores of the patients increased. It was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the healthy lifestyle behaviors scale II and its sub-dimensions before and after the training (p<0.001). It was determined that after the training, the patients' average scores on healthy lifestyle behaviors and health responsibility, physical activity, nutrition, spiritual development, interpersonal relations and stress management subscales increased. As a result, it was observed that the education given to patients with bipolar disorder about healthy lifestyle behaviors positively affected their self-care skills and healthy lifestyle behaviors. In line with these results, it is recommended to disseminate training that will increase the healthy lifestyle behaviors and self-care skills of bipolar patients.
