Seed germination and early seedling development are critical indicators for plant density, thereby higher yield in lentil, particularly in semi-arid regions. The experiment was carried out to evaluate how priming treatments with humic acid (HA) and gibberellic acid (GA3) influence seed germination behavior and the early stages of seedling development under controlled conditions. The experiment included two concentrations of HA and GA3 over control. Significant differences were observed among treatments for germination percentage, mean germination time, germination index, germination uniformity, germination energy and root length (p<0.01). The GA2 (100 mg L⁻¹ GA3), treatment produced the highest germination percentage (97.5%) and shortest germination time (1.037 days). Although GA2 improved germination percentage and root elongation, the shortest mean germination time was observed in the control treatment. The shortest germination time (1.037 days) was determined in control. GA treatments also promoted root elongation (up to 6.30 cm) that indicates enhanced early radicle development. In contrast, the higher HA resulted in the lowest germination percentage (75.0%) and reduced germination uniformity, suggesting an inhibitory effect at elevated concentrations. There were no statistically significant differences among the treatments in terms of biomass parameters. In addition, gibberellic acid applications did not increase seedling vigor index values. Overall, gibberellic acid improved several germination-related traits, particularly germination percentage and root elongation, whereas humic acid required careful dosage adjustment to avoid negative effects on early growth.
