Abstract


REFLECTIONS OF LIGHTING ON ARCHITECTURE

Lighting is one of the most important design elements that determines healthy and comfortable usage areas and is of great importance in energy consumption. Because, sufficient and effective lighting increases the quality of the indoor environment, protects human health and increases the efficiency of the work done. In lighting design, natural and artificial lighting should be handled in an integrated manner. Daylighting basically aims to benefit from daylight with maximum efficiency and to reduce the use of artificial lighting. Light has been an important factor affecting human life since its existence. Light, which used to enter our living space only in the form of openings and narrow window openings, has become an important design parameter set up in the first stage of the architectural project with the developing technology. In the building, the light was allowed to be taken into the space in different ways and with the artificial lighting design, the formation of sustainable energy-efficient designs shaped according to technology in today's architecture was ensured. In this study, after emphasizing the general points about lighting design in architecture, four different building types with different functional uses are examined in terms of lighting design. It has been observed that in these buildings, which have received various awards and have certifications such as the Breeam certificate, innovative approaches are developed in lighting design in the context of sustainability and natural lighting is used effectively, and in general, efficient systems and sensor systems are used in artificial lighting design.
